Carina, Karolin - We Hate Pigeons

Why we love I HATE PIGEONS

Read our blog at: https://ihatepigeonsblog.wordpress.com/
Since moving to Bangkok we got to know new people frequently. With some of them we started to hang out and explore different parts of Bangkok and especially the area around our apartment. We live in Sathorn, close to Lumphini park, with loads of Thai, German and Indian restaurants and other small businesses. One of those businesses caught our eyes when we walked passed it:  The bar I hate pigeons.
Through its curious and unique name, store design and bright logo we took a closer look and discovered their appealing offering. Especially the beer flatrate perfectly matched the needs of our group since the price-performance ratio is terrific. The beer flatrate was the initial intention to go to this place, but after a while it just became an important ritual for our group: Since then we meet each other at I hate pigeons every Wednesday evening to enjoy masses of beer. The atmosphere is kind of hard to explain, because it’s basically a place for everyone – it’s modern and rustic at the same time. Sometimes we just go there to drink our beer and talk, sometimes we have a deck of cards with us to play a fun drinking game (bus driver: Best game in the world!).
Anyhow, we started to love this place and its people for which reasons we chose it to be the core of our blog.

Who is I HATE PIGEONS

In our first blog entry we introduced you to our blog and told you the story on how we came across our blog topic and the company we are going to write about. But who exactly is I hate Pigeons and what are they doing as a business?
To begin with hate Pigeons is a bar located in a shop-house space on Soi Sri Bumphen, about a 12-14 minute walk from the Lumphini MRT Station. The branch was founded and established by two former members of the band The Messenger in 2015.
The bar is opened regularly from Monday till Saturday from 5pm to 1am and closed on Sunday. During this opening hours the customers, mainly consisting of 80% foreigners and 20% Thais, can select between a huge variety of fancy Cocktails and imported as well as local Thai craft beer. The bar itself does not serve food, but they do have a menu from a nearby restaurant from which you can choose from.  Next to their All You Can Drink or Buy 1 get 1 free Promotions, the easygoing-yet-cool dive bar also hosts movie nights in partnership with Documentary Club.
As a business and through their unique offering I hate Pigeons brings the craft beer craze to the expat-heavy neighborhood, with a considerably younger and more artsy vibe than what you typically find in this area.
